Phloretin is a dihydrochalcone, a type of natural phenols. Phloretin is the phloroglucin

ester of paraoxyhydratropic acid. Phloretin can be found in apple tree leaves.

Phloretin hydrolase uses phloretin and water to produce phloretate and phloroglucinol.
